Not all drinks are created equally and some drinks that are marketed as good for you are quite the opposite. Here are some ingredients I like to look for:

How much should you be drinking? What should you avoid drinking? I answer all of those questions and more below, so keep scrolling!
How many fluids should I be drinking while breastfeeding?
You should drink about 128 oz of fluid while breastfeeding. Not all of that fluid has to be water, so that may make it a bit easier to drink that amount of fluid.
In order to drink that amount of fluid, try to have an entire 8 oz cup of liquid when you breastfeed and eat. This makes it much easier to drink all of that fluid.
Why should I drink more than just water?
Water is great, but different hydration drinks have electrolytes and other ingredients that are beneficial for hydration. Electrolytes, vitamins, and minerals are important for your body’s natural functions and to have in your breastmilk for your growing babe.
What drink should I avoid while breastfeeding?
Some drinks that you should consider avoiding are:
- Alcohol
- Caffeine
- Sugary drinks
Remember, anything is fine in moderation, but you may consider avoiding those things while breastfeeding. These drinks can affect how well your supply and hydration.
