If you’re expecting a new baby in the near future, you’ve probably been trying to come up with some fresh ideas for decorating the nursery.
While it can be a little stressful to create the perfect space for your little one, try to relax and it will all come together soon!
Creating Your Nursery
The first thing you want to do is to decide which room in the house you will make the nursery. This may be easy for some if there’s only one option. However, you want to examine every space in your house to see which room would make the most sense.
A baby doesn’t need a tremendous amount of space early on, so if you’d rather keep your office or guest room in a larger room, that may make sense.
Choosing the Colors
Next, decide on your color scheme. You may go back and forth between colors for awhile, but try not to let this overwhelm you!
My go-to mantra for creating new rooms or spaces in my home is to make everything a neutral color and use accent colors throughout the room.
I typically paint a room a light grey or taupe as a neutral base. I choose white, ivory, or light grey furniture, frames, lighting, etc.
Then I use the brighter color for accent pieces like bedding, pillows, knick-knacks, and wall decor.
It’s always easy to change out accent pieces than furniture and wall paint!
Ideas for Nursery Decor
If you’re struggling to find ideas for your nursery and debating on color schemes, the best thing to do is find a piece for the room that you love and work around that.
Hopefully some of these handmade Etsy items will draw some inspiration:
These prints provide a subtle blush color to a little girl’s room and be downloaded and printed in your home to use immediately.
This wooden script name sign above your baby’s crib will add a touch of sophistication and beauty to the nursery.
If you’re having a little girl, you’ve probably already stock piled gorgeous headbands and bows. This is a great way to store them while adding a gorgeous piece of decor for the room.
I love these wooden name signs, especially the ones with accent images like these mountains and trees. There are a ton of different fonts and arrangements for these signs so get ready to have a hard time making up your mind!
If you’re not finding out the sex of your baby, a grey room makes the perfect neutral nursery. Here is a simple sign that can be used for both a boy or girl and the saying is so sweet.
Not only will this blanket add a nice color accent to your room, it’s a versatile piece because you’ll always need a baby blanket! These blankets look so soft that I just want to reach through the screen and hold them!
Another piece for a neutral nursery (or they have any color you wish). I love the softness and subtlety of these felt mobiles!
These cloud mirrors would make adorable accents in your baby’s nursery. I love the neutrality of the colors. Pair it with the mobile and grey sign from above and this would be an adorable neutral room.
I’m really into these large floral wallpaper prints for a baby’s nursery. Use it on one accent wall and build the rest of the decor around all the colors in the print.
More girly floral prints that I just can’t get enough of. Personalize your daughter’s room with their name and initial along with these pretty pink florals and watercolors.
