Neutral Nursery on a Budget

We just finished our son’s nursery and I’m so happy with the end result! I’ll be honest, I wasn’t as into decorating the second time around, but once we got started, I was really into it.  Now that it’s come together nicely, I just can’t wait for his arrival.

This room could actually be a gender neutral nursery.  As you can see, there’s nothing that really screams ‘boy’ at me, so if you were not finding out the sex of your baby, this is a great theme for you. Our whole house is neutral colors (taupe and grey) so of course, I had to do the nursery the same.

We did this room on a much smaller budget by using our old guest room furniture and a crib we got handed down from a friend.  Since we recently spent a lot on my daughter’s nursery furniture, I figured when he is old enough to tell us what bedroom furniture he wants, then he can choose to update his room.

The rug is from Target and was on sale for $42 when I bought it.  Almost all the wooden wall decor is from Hobby Lobby and I waited until all the wood decor goes on 50% off which is every 2-3 weeks. The animal wall prints I found online for free, printed them out, and put them in these great Michaels frames that are super cheap (when you get them on sale for 60-70% off) and I use them for everything!

You can find the downloadable prints here. Just crop the frame off, print and put them in your own frames.  I used 11×14 frames for the wall with the lamp. The prints above the crib I found here.

The closet storage organizer was also from Target when they had a home sale and everything was 25% off.  The cube organizer was 25 and the bins were $5.  I wanted to maximize how much space I had for storage and this size JUST fit.  I also found the cheapest hangers to be from Target too, both standard and don’t forget the clip on ones  for outfits!

Everything else was repurposed from old items we had around the house like the curtains, stuffed animals, and the lamp.
