There’s something truly special about watching your kids’ eyes light up on Easter morning — and one of our favorite ways to add even more magic to the day is with an Easter scavenger hunt around the house! Instead of simply setting their baskets out in plain sight, why not lead them on a fun and exciting adventure to find them?
This simple tradition has quickly become a favorite in our home, and I’m so excited to share how you can pull it off with minimal prep and maximum fun — plus, I’ve included a free printable with all the clues you’ll need!

🐣 Why Do an Easter Scavenger Hunt?
It adds an extra layer of excitement to the morning — especially if your kids are early risers and racing to see what the Easter Bunny left. It gives them a way to move, laugh, and think creatively, and it builds anticipation before they finally find their basket.
Plus, it’s a great alternative to an egg hunt if the weather outside doesn’t cooperate — this is all done indoors and can be tailored to fit your space.

🧺 What You’ll Need:
- Easter baskets filled and hidden
- Printed scavenger hunt clues (grab your free printable below!)
- Tape or small envelopes to secure clues around the house
- Optional: a few treats or eggs at each clue to keep the excitement going!

📝 How It Works
I’ve designed a set of pre-written clues that guide your child from one spot to the next — all common places in most homes. The final clue leads them right to their Easter basket.
There are 12 clues, but you don’t need to use all that 12. That would make for a very long hunt and you don’t want them to get bored! Choose the ones that you think fit best with your home’s layout and where the kids can find them.
If you have multiple kids, you can print out a set for each of them or have them work together as a team!
Each clue builds anticipation until finally they reach the final clue, leading them to their basket.
🐰 Tips for a Smooth Hunt:
- Personalize it: Adjust the clues to match your home.
- Consider age: For younger kids, stick to easy rhyming riddles. For older ones, you can add trickier clues or even math or word puzzles!
- Add mini rewards: Leave a small egg or treat with each clue to keep their energy up (and curb early morning sugar cravings just a bit).
- Take videos! Trust me — their reactions are priceless.
💡 Variations:
- Color-coded hunts: Assign each child a color (pink, green, yellow, etc.) and hide only their clues in that color. This avoids confusion if they’re doing it together.
- Puzzle piece reveal: With each clue, they collect a puzzle piece — at the end, they put the puzzle together to see a picture or message revealing the basket location.
- Glow-in-the-dark hunt: If you’re feeling fancy, use glow sticks or battery candles and turn it into a dark, magical morning search!
✨ Make It Memorable
This simple scavenger hunt tradition is one your kids will talk about for years. It turns a typical basket find into a full-blown experience, and all it takes is a few printed clues and a little creativity.
So go ahead — print out your clues, fill those baskets, and get ready for giggles, running feet, and big Easter smiles.
🐣 Happy Easter and happy hunting!
