13 Quick and Healthy Toddler Snack Ideas

Providing healthy snacks to those little people you love can often be challenging. Sometimes you’ll be torn between offering the expensive, wholesome, organic snacks or saving a little money and opting for other inexpensive, but still nutritious options.

This list of 13 healthy snacks for your toddler is a good mix of both. It’s what I like to think of after a third child comes into your life.

With your first child you are all about organic and healthy, nothing but the best. With the second you realize your budget may not be able to handle that. Likely by the third you have settled somewhere in between.

In my house, my kids have started to outgrow me! In reality, it’s more like I am chasing after them and trying to keep up! Maybe this post should read “13 Healthy Snacks for the Overworked Mama That Needs Enough Energy to Keep Up With Her Kids!”

Healthy Snacks That Your Toddler Will Love

In this post, I want to share 13 healthy snacks for toddlers, but rest assured they are family-friendly and perfect for all ages. As I tell my boys ALL the time, I am not a short-order cook so everyone needs to eat whatever is offered.

Bananas

Oh the many ways this fruit has become a lifesaver! First, it has its own packaging!! Just don’t forget about it in your vehicle.

And if you want to dress up this banana you can try this simple recipe: Take a wrap, spread it with peanut butter, and slice up the bananas. Let your little one eat it like they would a taco.

No-Bake Oatmeal Bites

Another goodie from our household is to combine:

  • 1 1⁄2 cups quick oats
  • 1 tablespoon flax meal
  • 1⁄2 cup sunflower seed butter
  • 1⁄4 cup honey

Shape into balls and you have a yummy treat for your littles. You can choose how large to make them. Store in the refrigerator to keep fresh.

Air Fryer Apple Chips

Quick, simple, and healthy snacks for your picky toddler. Ideal for busy moms on-the-go who still want to give their child a nutritious option for snacks.

Easy peasy…slice apples, lay in an air fryer and dust with cinnamon. Bake at 375 for about 16 minutes and flip every four minutes. And a healthy homemade snack is done.

Cuties or clementines

This was my middle child’s favorite snack when he was younger. He would carry those little orange delights around while half chewing and half sucking on them.

Watermelon “Fries”

Lastly, one of my favorite snacks to make…watermelon. Two ways to serve this fruity deliciousness. Cut up into “french fries” and dunk into honey or if the weather is nice I BBQ them and serve with vanilla yogurt.

Blueberries

Yummy goodness in every single bite. I usually try to buy the blueberries that are bigger in size and then cut them in half.

Shredded Cheese

I have to admit it wasn’t until my third child came along that I started serving this as a snack. My other two children were very happy getting string cheese, but the third one prefers shredded.

Goldfish

I love and I mean love these little fish! They have come on many trips with us. From cars to airplanes, they are easy to carry and the mess is minimal.

Yogurt Cranberries

One of the newer snacks that I have given my youngest. Instead of raisins, I switched it up recently and have been toting these little boxes around with me instead.

They are great when soccer games go over and you need to provide a quick snack until lunch or supper.

Smoothies

I drink smoothies every single morning and my kiddos have gotten on my smoothie train. In a blender combine 1⁄2 cup ice, 1 cup milk, 1⁄2 cup strawberries and a slash of honey. Then blend baby blend.

You can literally add in so many different fruits or vegetables and your toddler shouldn’t even taste the difference. Just don’t put too much of the bitter vegetables because the taste will stand out.

Applesauce

Who doesn’t love applesauce? Especially when you can get them in so many different flavors now. The best thing is it lasts longer when you get the individual packages.

Homemade Pudding Pie

Quick, simple, and healthy snacks for your picky toddler. Ideal for busy moms on-the-go who still want to give their child a nutritious option for snacks.

My youngest loves these. Well in all honesty he loves every single kind of pie I give him! This pie is so easy and makes him feel special because he gets his very own pie to himself.

Take individual graham cracker pie crusts and fill with vanilla pudding. That’s it! Really simple.

Pretzels

Another one of my favorite traveling snacks. When you buy individual bags they last longer!

I also keep them in my vehicle for my kiddos if they are feeling unwell on a longer car ride.

. . . . .

One note about the list above. All of these little morsels of heaven I recommend for toddlers BUT you know your child.

Anybody that has more than one child knows that all children develop at different rates. While my middle child I gave cut up grapes at a very early age my oldest was not ready for those tasty little treats until very late in his toddler years.

And one very last note. You are killing it as a parent or caregiver. You got this!!
