You’ve planned the theme, the colors, the beautiful cake, and everything to create the perfect baby shower for your favorite mom-to-be. It is going to be one of those special days that your daughter, best friend, sister, or any woman will treasure forever!
However, putting together such a party is no easy feat. Even with all those precious details in place to ensure a perfect day, helping with the tempo of the party takes a certain skill. You need something that will bring everyone together to share a laugh and feel like they are part of the event and not just an observer. You need baby shower activities!
I particularly love activities that both, get the guests involved, bu also provide something tangible for the parents-to-be to take home and use for their new baby.
Here is a list of some fun, creative, and unique games and activities to include that will make your baby shower not only stand out, but will be remembered for a lifetime:
1. Headband station
Is the mom-to-be having a little girl? A headband station is a great activity to have at the baby shower. You don’t even have to be a seasoned crafter to participate, just a little creativity and the right supplies are all that you need! This is a fun and interactive activity for your guests. Family and friends will love to see photos of your baby with the headband that they made themselves!
Everyone can make a special headpiece for the new baby to help ensure that the little fashionista will have all the right accessories! Here is the full Headband Station Tutorial with great instructions and easy-to-follow steps. You can purchase a headband-making kit from Etsy which has all you need to make a bunch of headbands. Add in a hot glue gun and some cute baskets and a sign with instructions, and you have an awesome baby shower activity that the mom-to-be and guests will adore!
2. Onesie making station
Babies go through a lot of clothes, especially during their first year. Through growth spurts and diaper blowouts, many outfits don’t ever even get to be repeated. This is reason enough to make sure the mom-to-be has an ample supply of onesies! Similar to the headband-making stations, this is an interactive activity that your guests will be able to actually contribute to more items for the baby-to-be.
To give them a creative flare, include a onesie-making station at the bridal shower. A way to ensure that amazing prints and designs are achieved, you can purchase a fun Onesie Decorating Party kit for your party, complete with the decals, instructions to display, and fun extras.
You could also simply purchase plain onesies and give your guests markers, puffy paint, and other art supplies to let them get creative and see what they come up with! Just be sure to get all different sizes so they can have them for the whole first and second year!
3. Alphabet Book Making Station
Have your guests create something special that the new baby will have for a long time and even learn something from it! Here is a FREE printable to making your baby shower alphabet book! Simply print out the pages and hand out each letter page to the guests or lay them out at a display table. Have them get creative as they draw and write their pictures for baby to learn their alphabet.
If you want to make it even better for mom, laminate these pages when it’s done so they really hold up from baby. This DIY alphabet book can come out really great if you have some artistic party goers!
4. String Art Kit
The new parents-to-be may need some new and fun art to go in the nursery for the new arrival. String art is fun and unique wall décor to put up in your child’s room.
Have the new parents pick out some small designs that they like and you can purchase the art kits that will ensure that you have all your supplies. Then, the guests will create their string art from one kit per table during the baby shower. This is a great way to help new parents decorate their baby’s room. Here is the rainbow string art kit and the mountain string art kit.
5. Pacifier Hunt
Everyone loves a good scavenger hunt! This is a game that gets your guests moving around the room and interacting during the baby shower.
Place a bunch of pacifiers all around the party and your guests will search for them at various times throughout the baby shower. They can turn up attached to the bottom of someone’s drink’s stem, hidden under the presents or beside a plate- almost anywhere! The one with the most pacifiers at the end of the party wins the game.
Make sure the Pacifier Hunt Sign is located close to where your guests walk in so they know what’s expected of them during the whole party. The pacifiers can be given to the parents-to-be a tthe end of the shower. Just make sure to wash them!
6. Keepsake Guestbook
This activity gives your guests something to do while also providing the parents-to-be with a memory they can always share, as well as beautiful decor for their nursery. Make sure you know the theme of the baby’s nursery or ask mom to pick out her favorite design.
Have each guest sign, add their fingerprint, or contribute to the “guestbook” so they can always cherish the memory of celebrating this little one’s arrival. There are a few different styles to choose from, including a drop box, fingerprint sign, or puzzle.
7. Lego Building Challenge
For the Lego fan couple, a fun game that can take place over the length of the party is having a fun Lego building challenge. Guests can choose to build a tiny version of a crib, stroller, or swing out of Legos.
You can use different types of Legos as the centerpiece of each of the tables. Guests will have fun making their creation and the Mom-to-be or Dad-to-be will end up being the judge. A great benefit of this baby shower activity is that these Legos will come in handy once their new child becomes older, giving them years and years of entertainment.
8. Diaper Raffle
The amount of diapers a child goes through the first year is crazy! To help these parents, having a diaper raffle is a great way to not only include a game in the party but help the new family to be stocked with diapers.
Each guest who brings a box of diapers gets to put their name in the raffle for a fun prize. This can be a gift card, a fun gift basket, or anything else. The more boxes of diapers they bring, the more times their name goes into the raffle. Have one of the parents-to-be pick a name out of the hat to call out this lucky winner!
9. Diaper Decorating Station
In addition to providing the parents-to-be with a full supply of diapers, have your guests decorate the diapers to give them a laugh during those manyyyy diaper changes in the first few months. Give each person a creative outlet to write a funny saying, inspirational quote, or hilarious doodle on each diaper.
You can even use the ones brought from the diaper raffle for this! Then, the parents-to-be will get to take home tons of diapers for the new baby.
10. Family Traditions
Give the parents-to-be some great family traditions that they can start with their little ones. This is a unique way for guests to think about their childhood and give you some great ideas for your growing family.
Whatever the baby shower game or activity to choose, having something to do and participate in during a party helps your guests break the ice and get to know each other a bit more. Having memories or keepsakes out of it is just the icing on the cake!
With a bit of planning and prep, having unique and creative games or activities, your baby shower is sure to be a success!
