Picking out a name for your precious little one can seem like a very tough decision, especially because they’ll have it for their entire life! If you’ve been going through tons of baby names lately to no avail, you can hopefully find the perfect one syllable boy names here.
These one syllable boy names can be used as first names of course, but also make great boy middle names if you have a longer first name picked out. Mix and match them as first and middle names to find the perfect fit!
These one syllable boy names are still strong and unique even though they’re super short! Your little boy will exude confidence and adventure with these cool or classic names.
Why choose a one-syllable baby name?
Choosing a short, strong, or unique name for a boy with one syllable is a great decision. Single syllable names are easy to pronounce, pair well with long or challenging middle and last names, and come across as approachable and assertive, which are great characteristics for future world leaders.
Plus, you don’t have to worry about nicknames because one syllable boy names typically don’t need a nickname!
Tips for choosing a name
Here are some questions I asked myself when picking out my baby boy’s name. You can rank them in order of priority for your family because not all of them will be as important as others.
- Do you want to use a family name or initial?
- Does it have a nice meaning to it?
- Does it have meaning to us or our family?
- Are there nicknames for this name that we want to use or avoid?
- Is it too popular?
- Is it too unique?
- Does the name sound well with your last name?
- Are there any negative associations you have with it?
- What will his initials be?
- What will that name sound like when they’re an adult or professional?
The biggest advice is to ignore what others think or have to say about names you are considering or choose. It’s such a personal decision for you and your family so don’t let any other outside influencers change your mind.
Once you have it narrowed down to 2-4 first and middle names, I suggest picking one name per week during your pregnancy, and referring to your baby as that name. Every time you talk about “the baby,” call her by that name. When you refer to his nursery or him moving in your belly, call him by that name.
At the end of that week, change it to another name. Do this for several weeks with your top choices to see which name sticks and feels the most genuine to you. Once you start actually referring to your baby as this name, you will feel even more of a connection to him.
